Software demand
Turn every software request into a scored decision.
A requester describes the need in a few sentences. Northmap drafts the requirements, finds options in your landscape and on the market, and scores each one. Your team reviews, questions vendors and decides, and the decision is recorded.
Where software requests get stuck
A request is clear to the person asking and vague to everyone else.
- Requests arrive as one line
- “We need a contract tool” is not something you can evaluate. Turning it into requirements takes meetings, so the step is often skipped.
- Every evaluation starts from scratch
- Each evaluation builds its own spreadsheet. Scores from two evaluators, or from two demands, can't be compared.
- Vendor answers scatter
- Questions go out by email and answers come back as attachments. Nobody knows which version the decision was based on.
What changes with Northmap
One route for every request, with the same steps and the same scale.
A few sentences are enough
The requester writes the need in plain words or attaches a document. Northmap drafts use cases and must-have, should-have and nice-to-have requirements, and suggests the ones that are missing.
Options from both sides
Northmap suggests candidates from your application portfolio and from a catalog of market products, ranked, with the reason for each.
One scale for every option
The fit analysis scores each candidate on each requirement: met, partially met, not met or no information. Evaluators can override any score with a comment.
Vendors answer in one place
Questions go to vendors by email. They answer through a secure link, without an account, and each answer stays attached to the evaluation.

AddWho does what
Northmap prepares. People decide. This is how the work splits on a typical demand.
- The requester
- Describes the need in a few sentences, attaches a brief if there is one, and checks the drafted requirements.
- Northmap
- Drafts the requirements and flags gaps, finds and ranks options, scores them, suggests questions for vendor meetings and prepares the review pre-read.
- Your team
- Corrects the requirements, overrides scores where needed, questions vendors, signs the reviews and records the decision.
