Northmap

Architecture governance

Reviews by domain, with the pre-read already done.

Architecture, security, finance and any other domain you define review each demand against their own checklist. Northmap prepares a pre-read for each reviewer. Reviewers sign, and the decision is recorded only when every required domain has passed.

Why review boards slow down

Governance is there to protect the organisation. Too often it becomes a queue.

Reviewers start from scratch
Before each meeting, every reviewer rebuilds the demand, the options and the risks from slides and email threads.
Every review runs differently
Checklists live in documents, change from one reviewer to the next and get applied when someone remembers them.
Approvals leave no trace
A “yes, as long as” in a meeting is rarely written down. The condition is forgotten by the time the order is placed.

What changes with Northmap

The same reviews on every demand, prepared in advance and signed on record.

  • One template per review domain

Define your domains, such as architecture, security, data or finance, each with its checklist, its reviewer pool and the number of signatures required. Every demand gets the same reviews.

  • A pre-read for each reviewer

Northmap summarises the demand and the trade-offs for each domain, and flags blockers and open questions. It never gives the verdict.

  • Sign-offs with written conditions

Reviewers approve, approve with a condition, or reject. The condition is written down, and a rejection blocks the domain.

  • No domain skipped

The decision can be recorded only once every required domain has passed. It goes to the decision log with its conditions.

How a review runs

The same path for every demand, set once by your administrators.

  1. 01Administrators set the review template: domains, checklists, reviewer pools and required signatures. Each change is versioned.
  2. 02Each new demand gets one review per domain in the template.
  3. 03Northmap prepares a pre-read for each domain: a summary, the trade-offs, the blockers and the open questions.
  4. 04Reviewers from the pool sign: approve, approve with a condition, or reject.
  5. 05When every required domain has passed, the decision is recorded in the decision log, conditions included.
